Seneca Capital is an investment firm that specialises in the acquisition and management of privately held medium sized businesses in Australia. We work with owners to structure a transaction that meets their objectives, while ensuring the business is set up for sustainable success.
Committed in focus but flexible in approach, our core strategy is to build value for all stakeholders and position businesses for long term success through a combination of internal growth initiatives, operational improvements, and strategic acquisitions.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Seneca Capital targets companies generating annual EBIT of $2 million to $8 million and revenue of $10 million to $80 million. We prefer companies with a track record of profitability that generate sustainable margins in an industry that’s growing faster than the broader economy. We also look for businesses that have genuine sustainable competitive advantages, such as a high level of recurring revenue, a strong brand, or unique distribution capabilities.
Seneca Capital places importance in these general guidelines. However, we're open to evaluating opportunities outside these parameters and will make decisions on the merits of each business.

Will Charlston spent more than a decade with leading global financial and accounting organisations prior to establishing Seneca Capital. He was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs where he would evaluate investment opportunities across a range of industries - including transport, infrastructure, engineering and consumer goods - with a primary focus on Australian companies. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he worked in the Audit and Assurance division at KPMG.
Will holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics degrees from the University of Queensland, and is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA Charterholder.
SIMON KEMP | PARTNER

Prior to Seneca Capital, Simon Kemp spent more than a decade in management consulting, finance and accounting in Australia and the United States. He was a Director at Alvarez and Marsal in the United States as part of their Turnaround and Restructuring practice. There he worked hand in hand with numerous clients to restore and improve the fiscal and operational health of the companies. Prior to Alvarez and Marsal, Simon worked at KPMG Australia in their Corporate Finance division.
Simon holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics degrees from the University of Queensland and is a Chartered Accountant.
